 | The American Heart Association has recognized Eaton as a platinum level Start! Fit-Friendly Company due to successful wellness initiatives at Eaton encouraging all employees to find ways to increase their fitness both at work and at home with family and friends. According to the American Heart Association, “The Start! Fit-Friendly Companies program recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity in the workplace”. The criteria incorporate three areas including nutrition, physical activity and culture, all of which were demonstrated in wellness initiatives by Eaton facilities in the United States. |
Globally, Eaton’s comprehensive wellness initiative expands these criteria by focusing on “five pillars” of wellness. Taking action in the following areas will help prevent, and even reverse, chronic illness so Eaton and our employees can do well together:

How are some of Eaton's locations embracing wellness across the globe?
Employees out of Eaton’s Airdrie, Alberta - CA office, volunteered to harvest sections of a local community garden. All food grown was donated to a local food bank. Airdrie employees are proud to be spreading Eaton wellness initiatives out into their community.
In 2010, employees and their families from Eaton’s office in Caracas, Distrito Capital - VZ started getting together and walking five blocks to a local bowling alley where they have practice and small bowling tournaments. The events are full of laughter and fun for the employees and their families!
Employees at the Cherrington (Pittsburgh), PA – USA facility are taking advantage of the walking/jogging path available throughout the complex where the facility is located. An extensive schedule of exercise classes are held in their main conference center and a personal trainer is on-site once a week to help employees.
The Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters in Shanghai, China opened a fitness center in July 2010. The fitness center includes exercise equipment and fitness courses, such as yoga, held by professional coaches. Lots of employees are joining the program to improve their healthy lifestyles!
The Eaton Shenandoah, IA – USA location staff worked with the City of Shenandoah (population 5,500) Chamber of Commerce to build a community physical fitness center. Three Eaton employees sit on the center steering committee for the center, which is open 24 hours a day not only for Eaton employees, but for the entire community.
Eaton’s Worksop, Notts - UK office introduced a healthier living campaign which included the “Cycle to Work Scheme”, where employees can purchase discounted bicycles and equipment. This location has also organized activities such as Physical Activity Month and Blood Pressure Awareness Week.
