FAQs

Question: During what hours can I contact the Ethics and Financial Integrity Help Line?

Response: The Ethics and Financial Integrity Help Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  A third-party ethics representative will answer your call and forward your concern or question to the Global Ethics & Compliance Office. This toll-free call is confidential and can be anonymous, subject to local law. Translation services are available when you call.

U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico callers may dial direct at 1-800-433-2774.  Callers from Brazil may dial direct at 0800-891-4212. From all other countries, first dial your country's AT&T Direct Access Number and then 800-433-2774.  (When calling from certain Eaton locations it may be necessary to ask the local telephone operator to place the call for you.)

Question: When should I contact the Office of the Ombuds, or the Global Ethics & Compliance Office, about a concern or question?

Response: The Office of the Ombuds and the Global Ethics & Compliance Office are two of the many channels of communication available to you at Eaton for resolving work-related concerns.

Bringing issues to local management's attention is clearly the best approach in most cases. However, we realize that there are situations where such an approach may not be feasible. If this happens, the Office of the Ombuds and the Global Ethics Office are resources that are available to assist you.

The Office of the Ombuds will act as an impartial, confidential and independent resource to help you address and resolve workplace issues. As a designated neutral, the Ombuds Office will not function as an advocate for the Company or any individual; rather, it is an advocate for fair process. The Office is available to help you examine issues as they are raised and to help you understand your options.

The Ombuds Office is independent of functional management. It is not a place for you to officially report your concerns to the Company. The Ombuds office will not conduct investigations. The Ombuds Office was created with the understanding that all communications with it are kept confidential. You may also contact the Office anonymously.

The Global Ethics & Compliance Office is a resource for advice, guidance and interpretation on Eaton's Code of Ethics. Anyone who has a concern about any ethical challenge in the workplace, potential or actual legal or financial violations of the Code of Ethics or questionable business conduct and wants the Company to know about it should contact the Global Ethics & Compliance Office. Also, you can contact this office if you believe your issue involves workplace violence, discrimination, harassment or other situations that might require an investigation or other company action. At your option, you may remain anonymous.

Call the Global Ethics & Compliance Office to report any concern or any potential or actual legal or financial violation, including matters related to:

  • Fraud
  • Accounting Practices/Financial Reporting
  • Tax
  • Financial Record Keeping
  • Violations of the Code of Ethics
  • Quality
  • Internal Accounting Controls/Procedures
  • Audit

Both offices are available through secure toll-free numbers:

Office of the Ombuds - Contact Ombuds
Global Ethics Office - 1-800-433-2774
(From the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico.  From Brazil, dial 0800-891-4212.  From other countries, dial your country's AT&T Direct Access Number followed by 800-433-2774.)

Don't worry if you aren't sure which of the two offices you should call. The important thing is to make a call and get help.

Question: What can I expect when I contact the Global Ethics Office with a question, report or concern?

Response: Your question, report or concern will be taken seriously and will be handled promptly, discreetly and professionally. Any reports or concerns you raise will be investigated or, if appropriate, referred to the Office of the Ombuds, Human Resources or other internal resource channel for a response or follow up. Potential violations or misconduct, if substantiated, will be resolved through appropriate action. In some cases it may not be appropriate to inform you of the final resolution of your reports or concerns but where possible, the Global Ethics Office will inform you of the results of its review if you identify yourself.

At your option, you may remain anonymous. This means that you don't have to disclose who you are or where you work. However, without a very basic amount of critical information it may be difficult to conduct an investigation or to effectively address your question or concern. If you use the anonymous e-mail address (available on Eaton's intranet) or the toll free Help Line, your location and number cannot be identified or traced. If you identify yourself, your identity will be kept confidential to the extent possible while permitting an appropriate investigation.
