CLEVELAND, OH ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced it has donated $10,000 to support Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland (JA). Eaton's grant will provide curriculum and classroom materials, including workbooks, maps, posters, games, software and lesson plans for JA programs at Newton D. Baker Elementary School in Cleveland.
"Eaton has always been sensitive to the needs of the community and responds generously through its financial investment and employee leadership and involvement," said Wendy Kinsey, president, Junior Achievement. "We are so grateful for their continuing support."
Junior Achievement's mission is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives and prepare them for success in tomorrow's workforce. Research shows that JA helps students understand the importance of staying in school, encourages students to become entrepreneurial thinkers and improves classroom participation.
"This donation supports Eaton's ongoing commitment to Junior Achievement and to employee participation as volunteers in our communities," said Karen Kaspar, Eaton’s director of Operations Reporting and Analysis, and member of the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland. "As JA volunteers, our employees share their business knowledge and experience while serving as positive role models to young students."
Each year, Eaton raises money for Junior Achievement by sponsoring more than a dozen bowling teams. This year, company volunteers raised almost $10,000 in the Bowl-A-Thon fundraising event. In addition, Eaton has directly contributed $27,500 to JA since 2002.
