Eaton names vice president for Growth Initiatives
CLEVELAND, OHIO.... Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) today announced the appointment of former Rockwell International executive Randy W. Carson, 48, to the newly created position of Vice President-Growth Initiatives, effective immediately
Carson will work with Eaton's senior operating managers to improve the success of the company's growth programs, focusing on major new product programs, major strategic initiatives and strategic marketing thrusts. He will be located at the company's headquarters here and report to Eaton President and Chief Operating Officer, Alexander M. Cutler.
In announcing the appointment, Cutler said, "Randy brings to Eaton proven general management experience at successfully growing existing businesses, as well as through strategic acquisitions. His knowledge and dedication to customer satisfaction and strategic marketing are welcomed additions to our management team. In this new position, Randy will be a valuable resource to our senior managers as they increasingly focus upon accelerating the growth of their businesses."
As a senior vice president of Rockwell Automation, Carson was responsible for all operations of the systems, assembly and value-added services of the company. Previous responsibilities with Rockwell included leading the Automation Group of Allen-Bradley, and as executive vice president of the Reliance Electrical Group. Each of these businesses exceeded $1.2 billion in sales, with global operations in every region of the world.
After graduating from Valparaiso University with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Carson joined the sales organization of Allen-Bradley in 1972. He rose through the sales organization to eventually hold executive positions in sales, marketing and distribution. In 1988, he began his general management experience when he was appointed vice president of the Intelligent Sensing business. In the following 10 years, Carson led several businesses, all focused on and achieving significant global growth. From 1992 to 1998, Carson led the largest businesses in Rockwell Automation. During that period, Rockwell Automation's sales grew from $1.5 billion to more than $4.5 billion.
