Eaton Forms Strategic Partnership With Symcom Inc.
To Meet Growing Needs Of Oil And Gas Industry
5/10/04 - Pittsburgh, PA - Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced a strategic partnership with SymCom, Inc. to provide complete pumping control system solutions to the oil and gas industry. This partnership will allow Eaton to take advantage of the growing interest in Coalbed Methane (CBM), in response to President Bush's Clean Skies legislation.
"Federal legislation has increased the country's reliance on natural gas," said Jim McGill, vice-president and general manager, Industrial Controls Division, for Eaton's electrical business. "While CBM is a significant source of natural gas, extracting it requires a sophisticated pumping process similar to what Eaton and SymCom deliver for conventional oil pumping methods. Together, we offer customers in both conventional and growth industries the hardware, technical support and oil and gas industry experience they won't find anywhere else."
SymCom provides customers with a single-source for automated controls for new drilling programs, retrofits and existing wells. System services include the integration of AC Drive packaging with instrumentation, pump off control and Telemetry systems. Field services include onsite project estimation, factory authorized start-up, system commissioning and comprehensive technical support that maximizes uptime.
Eaton provides AC Drive technology designed exclusively for the specialized needs of the oil and gas industry. Products such as the BP9000 and BPX9000 AC Drives minimize energy and operating costs and maximize productivity by: delivering precise motor control; reducing power usage and mechanical stress; enabling costly NEMA D design motors to be replaced by standard NEMA B design motors, thereby lowering overall installation costs; and offering 24/7 field service support.
"Our SymCom design engineering team has over 25 years of experience in the application of drive systems, PLC's, PC-based control, RF wireless technologies, SCADA, Telemetry, and instrumentation systems," said Bobby Mason, president, SymCom Inc. "Our goal is to keep customers up and running with the best technology available. Our ability to accomplish this goal has greatly improved with the Eaton partnership."
