Eaton Announces Powerware CoreLogic Software Development Toolkit
EATON CORPORATION INTRODUCES POWERWARE CORELOGIC, THE FIRST CUSTOMIZABLE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TOOLKIT FOR UPS MONITORING
2/8/05 - RALEIGH, NC ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) today announced the introduction of the PowerwareTM CoreLogic™ software development toolkit, the first customizable software toolkit to allow systems integrators, IT professionals and software developers to create a tailored power management solution for monitoring Powerware uninterruptible power systems (UPSs).
Designed for flexibility and customization, the CoreLogic toolkit includes pre-written, yet customizable development tools and utilities for UPS management, allowing customers to save money and development time. The CoreLogic toolkit performs highly targeted power protection tasks such as UPS power status and meter monitoring, UPS control, UPS discovery and operating system shutdown, and can be customized to meet the needs of many software environments. Additionally, the CoreLogic toolkit enables uncomplicated integration and embedding of UPS management capabilities into existing software applications.
“The Powerware CoreLogic software development toolkit was designed to allow our customers to take an unprecedented level of control over power management,” said Jim Thompson, manager of software and connectivity at Eaton Corporation. “In using this product, systems integrators no longer have to depend on a manufacturers’ view of what power management software should provide. They can now get their hands on the software themselves and can customize it to meet individual needs.”
With enterprise and distribution licensing options available, CoreLogic provides value added resellers (VARs) with the ability to offer custom software and service solutions to their customers.
“Eaton is the first UPS manufacturer to offer a toolkit for customizable power management, affording system administrators the hands-on flexibility to tailor power protection functions to perform exactly as needed,” said Gary Molenkamp, systems administrator, SHARCNET, University of Western Ontario. “SHARCNET is a network of high-performance Beowulf computer clusters at eleven Ontario post-secondary institutions, and our system is one of the more powerful supercomputing platforms in the world. The CoreLogic toolkit greatly simplified our power management control function, providing confidence that all of our mission-critical power protection needs are fulfilled,” added Molenkamp.
