Eaton Donates $100,000 To Friends Of Greenwood Public Library

GREENWOOD, S.C. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it donated $100,000 to Friends of Greenwood County Library. Funds will be payable over two years and will be used to support the $14 million capital project for a new library. The project meets the growing demand for services and programs in partnership with local secondary schools, the Literacy Council, Piedmont Technical College and local adult educational organizations.

“I appreciate Eaton’s generous investment in our library,” said Prudence Taylor, director, Greenwood County Library. “It’s an investment in Greenwood County’s present and future – an investment that will help us meet our information, literacy and cultural needs.“

The Greenwood County Library plans to build a new main library that will meet the needs of the growing population through 2025. The current library hosts more than 13,000 people each month in 13,000 square feet. The new facility will provide additional space, more than 60,000 square feet, and services needed by children and adults including: more books, more DVDs, wireless Internet access, study rooms, meeting rooms, a young adult room, a children’s room and a coffee shop.

“We’re proud to be able to support the important work of the Greenwood County Library and the benefits it brings to our area,” said Josette Russell, plant manager, Eaton’s Electrical Group in Greenwood. “Eaton is firmly committed to supporting the communities where we do business and the library system is a key ingredient in the education and enrichment of our employees and their families.”

Eaton’s three area facilities employ approximately 900 people who produce hydraulic pumps and power distribution equipment.
