Eaton Donates $5,000 to Benefit Junior Achievement

SARASOTA, Fla. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it has donated $5,000 to support Junior Achievement (JA) of Manatee County.

“This generous contribution is an investment in our local children, whose lives will be enhanced by participating in our business and economics educational programs,” said Laura Haw, Junior Achievement’s executive director. “We really appreciate Eaton’s volunteer involvement and financial support.

Junior Achievement of Manatee County is a not-for-profit educational organization in which volunteers teach economics, financial literacy and career preparedness to more than 2,000 students in 13 schools every school year.

Junior Achievement programs, which consist of five to eight 45 minute lessons, span kindergarten through 12th grade. Volunteers from local companies serve as role models and teach the JA programs. They share their expertise with students and give them the opportunity to explore career options and improve their understanding of the economy and financial literacy skills.

The donation supports Eaton’s commitment to Junior Achievement and its emphasis on employee engagement. Five Eaton employees are trained to serve as Junior Achievement instructors this year.

“We’re proud of our employee involvement with Junior Achievement,” said Preston Mathis, plant manager, Eaton’s Sarasota facility. “Eaton is committed to giving something back to the communities in which we do business.”

The Eaton facility, part of the company’s fluid power business, employs 300 people who are involved in the manufacture of switches, relays and circuit breakers.
