Eaton Donates $6,000 To Stephens County Recovery Academy

TOCCOA, Ga. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it donated $6,000 to benefit Stephens County Recovery Academy (SCRA). The funds will be used to continue to provide assistance, support, and direction to the youth and families in the community.

“We appreciate Eaton’s support of our mission and the difference it can make in the lives of these kids,” said John Gailer, executive director, SCRA. “Our program has proven to be highly effective in returning expelled and adjudicated youth to school as an alternative to detention and incarceration.”

SCRA was founded in 2001as a government funded grant program for youth who were determined to be at high-risk for dropping out of school. In 2006, the program became operational without government funding. For four years, SCRA provided full services to meet this need at little or no cost to the community. SCRA is attempting to become a community-based intervention funded by public and private entities. Intense mentoring and intervention provided by SCRA has proven to be an effective deterrent to the dropout issue. Five Eaton employees serve as mentors and coaches for participants in the SCRA program.

“Ensuring that SCRA continues to provide assistance to those in need is very important,” said Anthony Harrison, human resources manager, Eaton’s Toccoa facility. “We’re proud to work for a company with such a strong tradition of helping our local community.”

Eaton’s facility in Toccoa, part of the company’s aerospace operations, employs approximately 150 people who support and manufacture clamps, couplings, flanges and ducting products for aerospace applications.
