Eaton Donates $5,000 To Benefit Habitat For Humanity
VAN WERT, Ohio … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it has donated $5,000 to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Van Wert County. Funds will be used to acquire property for a construction project this year.
“We value Eaton’s longstanding partnership and commitment to our mission of helping improve the lives of people in the community through homeownership,” said Glen Jenkins, treasurer, Habitat for Humanity of Van Wert County. “It’s a fulfilling experience when people pull together to give a family a hand-up.”
Habitat for Humanity builds affordable, decent homes for low-income families. The process begins with a homeowner-selection process that chooses applicants who have a need to improve their housing situation and have the ability to pay modest monthly mortgages. Applicants must be willing to work a minimum of 250 "sweat equity" hours on the construction of their home, attend homeowner classes, fully participate in a partnership with Habitat staff, sponsors, and volunteers, and commit to maintaining their Habitat home and community.
Eaton employees have been volunteering for Habitat for Humanity construction and painting projects for several years.
“We’re proud to be working with such an outstanding organization and to be in a position to make a positive contribution to our community,” said Chris Bauer, Human Resources generalist, Eaton’s Van Wert facility. “Our employees have a great tradition of helping those less fortunate and this shows what they’re willing to do.”
The Eaton facility in Van Wert, part of the company’s Hydraulics Operations, is a large manufacturer of hoses and fittings that are used primarily in the agricultural and automotive industries. The Eaton Van Wert facility employs approximately 1,200 employees.
