Eaton Donates $25,000 To Asheville Parks And Greenways Foundation
ASHEVILLE, N.C. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it donated $25,000 to support the Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation, an independent non-profit organization which supports parks and greenways projects in partnership with the City of Asheville. The grant will be used to renovate the W.C. Reid Center for Creative Arts on Livingstone Street that houses the Cultural Renaissance Arts Program, a cultural outreach program for middle and high school students living in public housing neighborhoods.
“Eaton’s generous donation will help improve the lives of some deserving students from low-income families,” said Honor Moor, executive director – Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation. “These youth attend the Reid Center free of charge and stay focused on learning worthwhile activities supervised by adults who care.”
The vision for the Asheville Greenways System is a network of land and water corridors in Asheville. Greenways are corridors of protected open space for conservation and recreation. Asheville's greenway system is growing and will eventually offer a minimum of 14 corridors and 29 miles of trails connecting the places where people work, live and play.
“Eaton is dedicated to enriching the communities in which we do business,” said John Wirtz, plant manager, Eaton’s Asheville facility. “Because of socio-economic challenges, youth in the Reid Center community need activities that are located in their own backyard. The Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation is offering these kids a leg-up.”
