Eaton Donates $50,000 To Benefit The S.A.F.E. Center
KEARNEY, Neb. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that it donated $50,000 to support The S.A.F.E. Center in Kearney, Neb. The grant will be used to secure a new house and an anonymous location to provide shelter for victims of sexual violence.
"Eaton recognizes the importance of giving back to the communities in which we do business," said Lisa Prater, Human Resources manager, Eaton’s Kearney facility. "Providing emergency shelter to victims of abuse is an important part of The S.A.F.E. Center’s core mission and we’re proud to play a part in advancing that work.”
The S.A.F.E. Center is a not-for-profit organization established in 1978 that provides secure and confidential services, programs and advocacy for individuals and families who have experienced dating, domestic or sexual violence. Some of the services offered include: 24 hour on-call assistance; crisis counseling; emergency shelter; support groups; referral and educational programs and liaison with community agencies. The Center serves five counties in Nebraska including Franklin, Harlan, Phelps, Buffalo and Kearney.
Eaton employees have been engaged with The S.A.F.E. Center in a variety of ways including donating food items, gas cards and clothing. In addition, employees organized a “days of caring” service project in 2007 to support the Center.
“Thanks to Eaton’s generous donation The S.A.F.E. Center will continue to provide resources to empower victims to create positive changes in their lives,” said Nikki Gausman, executive director for the Center. "These changes can lead to a life free of violence while helping victims to renew their confidence and independence.”
