Eaton Donates $35,000 To Community Organizations In Shawnee

SHAWNEE, Okla. …Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it donated $35,000 to benefit community organizations in Shawnee, including $20,000 to Harvest Farms Therapeutic Riding Center and $15,000 to Grove Elementary School.

Harvest Farms Therapeutic Riding Center is dedicated to helping special needs children, teens and adults through pet therapy. They provide special needs children with an opportunity to train, show and love horses through an educationally-based program. Funds will be used to train three certified instructors, purchase a four horse trailer and train a therapist in eye movement desensitization. In 2005, Eaton contributed $8,000 to Harvest Farms.

Grove Elementary School serves approximately 387 students in kindergarten through grade eight. As part of an expansion effort, the school is redesigning its computer center and adding an integrated outdoor classroom. Funds will be used to purchase new computer equipment for the center. In 2004, Eaton contributed $10,000 to the school.

“Several Eaton employees have children that attend Grove Elementary,” said Gwen Wilcots, senior administrative assistant, Eaton’s Shawnee facility. “It’s rewarding to be able to give back to the community by contributing to the educational needs of the children in Shawnee.”

Eaton’s facility in Shawnee, part of the company’s Hydraulics Operations, employs approximately 385 people who manufacture hydraulic motors for skid steer, construction, chair lift, lawn and garden and trenching markets.
