Eaton Donates $30,000 To Asheville Area Habitat For Humanity®
ARDEN, N.C. …Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it donated $30,000 to benefit Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity® (HFH). Funds will be used to construct a new home for a deserving family and Eaton employees from the Heywood Road and Vista Parkway facilities will participate in the build.
“This year, we will celebrate our 25th anniversary of building houses and changing lives in Buncombe County,” said Lew Kraus, executive director, HFH. “Our goal through June, 2009 is to build an average of 16 houses per year. This means starting a new Habitat house every 23 days. Thanks to Eaton’s generous donation we are on the right path to meeting that goal.”
HFH’s mission is to change the lives of families living in inadequate housing. The process begins with a homeowner selection process that chooses applicants who have a need to improve their housing situation and have the ability to pay modest monthly mortgages. Applicants must be willing to work a minimum of 250 "sweat equity" hours on the construction of their home, attend homeowner classes, fully participate in a partnership with Habitat staff, sponsors, and volunteers, and commit to maintaining their Habitat home and community.
"Our employees are deeply committed to the work of HFH and many of us volunteer each year to work on a project," said Dan Loizzo, director of support services, Eaton’s Arden facility. "Eaton values the importance of giving something back to the communities in which we do business."
Eaton’s two facilities in Arden, both part of the company’s Electrical Group, employ approximately 1,000 people. The Heywood road facility manufactures power distribution and control equipment for the commercial construction and industrial markets. The facility on Vista Parkway provides a variety of sales support services for offices across the country.
