Eaton Donates $45,000 To St. Vincent Charity Hospital
CLEVELAND … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today it donated $45,000 to benefit St. Vincent Charity Hospital (SVCH). Funds will be used to offset costs to reconstruct their emergency department facilities.
“Mortality rates due to heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are among the highest in Cuyahoga County, creating critical medical needs in the downtown Cleveland neighborhoods surrounding St. Vincent Charity Hospital,” said Jeffrey S. Jeney, president and chief executive officer – SVCH. “Thanks to Eaton’s generous donation, we can continue to grow as a model of urban healthcare by treating emergency department patients in a progressive and vital environment.”
SVCH is a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient healthcare center with many centers of excellence and a full range of medical and surgical services. Located in the heart of Cleveland, it is owned through a partnership between the Sisters of Charity Health System and University Hospitals. Part of the community since 1865, the hospital includes a full-service, 480-bed medical facility and surgical care center, 24-hour emergency services, diagnostic services and outpatient care center.
The hospital has played an active role in the community and in the nation, including the first open heart surgery performed in the Midwest, the country’s first hospital heart unit, first orthopedic implants and first hospital-based treatment program for alcoholics and psychiatric patients.
“Like Eaton, St. Vincent Charity Hospital is deeply committed to the community,” said Jeffrey M. Krakowiak vice president – Corporate Sales and Marketing, and SVCH Community Advisory Board member. “The mission-driven programs and services supported by the hospital make medical care more accessible to people living and working in our neighborhoods. We are proud to be partners with them.”
Eaton’s World Headquarters is located in Cleveland. Approximately 1,700 employees work in Cleveland and the surrounding areas.
