Eaton Donates $5,000 To Habitat For Humanity® Of St. Joseph County
THREE RIVERS, Mich. …Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced a “Powering Communities Grant” of $5,000 to support Habitat for Humanity® (HFH) of St. Joseph County. Funds will be used to support a potential home construction project located on West Street in Three Rivers.
Building on Eaton’s tradition of corporate citizenship, the company’s “Powering Communities Grants” help improve the quality of life in communities where Eaton employees live and work.
“Eaton employees consistently demonstrate a strong sense of community involvement,” said Robert Meringa, president, HFH of St. Joseph County. “We can’t thank them enough, not only for their financial contribution but also for their volunteer efforts that help make our construction projects a success and change people’s lives.”
Located in Lansing, Mich., HFH is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides support to the more than 75 Michigan affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International through training, consulting, and fundraising. Their mission is to increase the capacity to build simple decent homes in partnership with people-in-need in the State of Michigan. Michigan affiliates have built more than 3,500 homes, housing more than 15,000 people. By 2010, affiliates have pledged to begin building homes using 'green built' and sustainable building techniques.
“Our community is a better place because of the work of Habitat for Humanity,” said Jeromie Marshall, human resources manager, Eaton’s Three Rivers, Mich., facility. “We’re proud to play a part in promoting home ownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.”
Eaton’s facility in Three Rivers, Mich., part of the company’s Automotive Group, employs approximately 125 people who manufacture transmission controls for Ford, GM, and Chrysler.
