Eaton Expands Power Supply Offering To Meet Broad Range Of Application Requirements
PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the PSG Series of power supplies, a general-purpose family of power supplies designed to cover the majority of 24V direct current (dc) control applications. With global certifications, increased safety features, a small footprint and an expansive operating temperature range (from -20°C to 75°C), the PSG series fits a wide variety of applications at a competitive price. The PSG family includes eight DIN-rail mounted power supplies, with varying input and output ratings, ranging from 2.5 amperes to 20 amperes.
“The PSG Series complements Eaton’s existing power supply products, including the PSS series, ELC, EZ and sensor power supplies. With its introduction, Eaton is able to provide customers with a new option for 24-Vdc control applications,” says Zari Talebi, marketing manager, Eaton Corporation. “It further demonstrates Eaton’s ongoing commitment to designing products with safety features for workers installing, operating and repairing power sources.”
Safety concerns were paramount in the design of the PSG Series. When flammable materials are present, Class I, Division II protection guards the PSG from sparking. Large screw thermals, with finger-safe protective covers, allow for easy access when wiring the unit, and do not require special tools or tiny screwdrivers. Surge protection against transient and internal surges protects from fires from lightning strikes and other voltage disruptions.
Additionally, the PSG Series includes standard features allowing for increased equipment uptime:
• Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of up to 800,000 hours minimizes field maintenance and replacement.
• Wide operating temperature ranges allows for clean power, even in harsh environments.
• Light Emitting Diodes (LED) indicator reduces troubleshooting time.
• Rugged, all-metal housing reduces potential for damage to internal electronics.
• Power boost (outrush/current surge) of one-and-half times nominal current for one second enables start-up of tough loads and increases system uptime when downstream supplemental protection is used.
Eaton’s ongoing commitment to the environment and the sustainability of resources are reinforced with the PSG series. Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance eliminates hazardous substances and improves the ability to recycle the product. The PSG uses incoming power effectively and minimizes waste. The compact size reduces space requirements and allows for the use of smaller panels and fewer raw materials.
