Eaton Receives Milestone Cylinder Order For Split Barges
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has been selected by Hydrauvision BV and Van Oord to supply hydraulic cylinders for four split barges. The value of the contract is estimated to be $5 million.
Eaton will deliver eight custom, large-bore, Eaton® Hydrowa™ XL Series cylinders weighing 50,000 pounds each. With a bore size of 780 mm (31”), the custom cylinders will provide the massive force (15.000 kN) required to separate and reconnect the split hull of the dredging barges. The cylinders are being built at Eaton’s Eindhoven facility, the Netherlands, and will be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year.
“Eaton’s unmatched competency in large-bore cylinder production, application know-how, technical expertise, and capability to meet a critical delivery time frame were key factors in Van Oord’s and Hydrauvision’s cylinder selection,” said Erwin de Bresser, Sales & Project Engineer Eaton Eindhoven—XL cylinders.
“The milestone business will strengthen Eaton’s position in the split-barge and dredging markets for new cylinders and cylinder repair.”
