JACKSON, Miss. …Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced several “Powering Communities Grants” to support local community organizations in the Jackson, Miss., area. The $65,000 in grants will be used to augment and enhance various programs and activities benefiting citizens throughout the region.
Building on Eaton’s tradition of corporate citizenship, the company’s “Powering Communities Grants” help improve the quality of life in communities where Eaton employees live and work.
"Giving back to the community is an integral part of the Eaton culture," said Brian Edwards, plant manager, Eaton’s aerospace facility in Jackson, Miss. "We are proud to support these organizations because they offer valuable services and benefits to the citizens of Jackson and the surrounding areas."
Funding recipients include:

Habitat for Humanity - $35,000 to support a new home construction project on Erie Court in Park View Place, a Jackson mid-city neighborhood.

Junior Achievement - $15,000 to purchase classroom materials for students in kindergarten through high school and to train volunteer classroom consultants.
- Mississippi Children's Museum - $15,000 will go toward the creation and construction of an aerospace display in the new museum facility, which is expected to open in Spring 2010.
Eaton’s Jackson, Miss., facility is one of the world’s largest aerospace hydraulic pump manufacturing centers in the world, employing approximately 575 people. It is credited with the recent design and development of the world’s first commercial higher-pressure hydraulic system currently flying on the new Airbus A380 passenger aircraft. Eaton’s facility in Jackson is also the hydraulic systems designer for the new Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
