Eaton Retirees Surpass 54,000 Hours of Community Service in the Greater Cleveland Area

Date: September 9, 2009

CLEVELAND …Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that its retiree group, "Retirees of Eaton Volunteering To Do Useful Projects" (REV'dUP) completed more than 54,000 hours of community service in the Greater Cleveland area, from 1994 through July, 2009.

"Our Eaton retirees make a difference every day in our community," said Alexander M. Cutler, Eaton chairman and chief executive officer.  "We consider them outstanding ambassadors to the region as they carry on the Eaton traditions of community involvement and volunteerism."

The REV'dUP group was started in 1994 to provide voluntary service for people in the Greater Cleveland community who are in need while enjoying camaraderie and having fun.  Today, more than 80 retirees are part of the REV'dUP team, including 10 core organizational team members who meet monthly to review project activities, budget data, and new requests from existing and potential clients. The group also produces and distributes a semiannual newsletter targeting Eaton retirees in the Greater Cleveland area.

“Eaton’s Rev’dUP members are reliable, punctual, and some of the most willing and hardest working group of people I have ever met," said Maria Livers, development coordinator, Cleveland Christian Home. "Our staff is always amazed at how efficient and productive they are while projecting positive energy and upbeat attitudes."

The Rev’dUP group has participated in a variety of service projects including sorting, packaging and preparing food for the Cleveland Foodbank; painting, cleaning, and coordinating mailings at Hospice of The Western Reserve; yard work and general maintenance at St. Paul’s Community Church; cleaning and painting at Newton D. Baker School; and gardening and planting at the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio.

By the end of 2009, the REV'dUP team is on target to complete 31 projects totaling more than 3,900 hours of volunteer work for this year alone.
