EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that it has received the first major order for its new EPA/CARB-compliant EH089 ESP® hose from Attwood Corporation of Lowell, Mich. The new hose product bears the Eaton “Green Leaf” label, symbolizing that it goes well beyond normal standards to provide exceptional environmental benefit. Eaton’s EH089 hose features innovative barrier layers that give it an extremely low hydrocarbon permeation rate of 3 g/m2 per day, far below the EPA 2010 mandate of less than 15 g/m2 per day for marine outboard fuel systems.
The new Eaton thermoplastic fuel hose will be an integral part of Attwood’s low-permeation, EPA/CARB-compliant fuel line hose kits that connect portable fuel tanks to outboard engines on small boats. Attwood integrated Eaton EH089 hose by reengineering its marine fuel kits with proprietary and exceptionally robust fuel fitting joints that ensure customer safety, superior product performance and regulatory compliance.
Eaton’s Industrial Hose Solutions manufacturing facility in Guelph, Ontario, will be supplying Attwood with 1 million feet of custom 3/8-inch I.D. hose.
“Our new EH089 hose demonstrates Eaton’s commitment to developing products that protect our environment and help our customers get ready for new emissions standards,” said Geoff Pantling, market development manager, Eaton. “Since Attwood is the leader in supplying EPA/CARB-complaint fuel systems for the marine industry, its use of EH089 hose will enhance Eaton’s position for additional marine and offshore business throughout North America.”
