Single Device with Flexible Communications Provides Solid-State Motor Protection, Control and Advanced Monitoring

PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced it is expanding its Motor Insight® overload and monitoring relay system offering, which provides customers advanced monitoring capabilities, diagnostics, and motor and pump protection in one device. Part of Eaton’s Intelligent Power® Control Solutions family, the Motor Insight system is now available with PROFIBUS™ communications, in addition to the previously available Modbus® and DeviceNetTM industrial protocols. This added flexibility allows the Motor Insight system to easily integrate with the customers’ preferred industrial network.

“The flexibility of the Motor Insight system’s communications, remote monitoring capabilities, and advanced protection features enable customers to better understand the dynamics of their system,” said Adam Krug, product manager, Eaton. “The Motor Insight system is designed to provide the information needed to keep motors running at peak performance, while maintaining the integrity of the application. Armed with real-time information about what is happening with their motor and motor-driven load, customers are able to reduce downtime and protect their business. Greater process uptime and throughput, reduced costs per repair, reduced energy consumption, and extended equipment life help reduce overall operating costs.”

The new PROFIBUS offerings include two separate modules, one with 24 volt (V) DC input/output (I/O) and 120V AC I/O. For more information, visit www.eaton.com/motorinsight .
