PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced a three-year extension to its supplier agreement with Johnson Controls, offering energy efficient variable speed drive technologies, systems and services to the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) and pumping industries. Eaton’s power-management expertise, combined with Johnson Controls’ building automation capabilities, offers customers solutions that increase energy efficiency, reduce costs and improve building comfort.
“Eaton products and technology, like variable frequency drives, help drive significant energy efficiency savings for our customers,” said Mike Owens, HVAC product and channel manager, Eaton Corporation. “Eaton plans to continue to work with Johnson Controls to deliver a new generation of customized solutions that reduce energy demand, expenditures, and operating costs, as well as help customers meet new energy efficiency standards.”
Variable frequency drive technology can result in typical energy savings of 10 to 40 percent by adjusting a motor’s speed to closely match output requirements. With industry leading drive specialists and application engineers, Eaton offers variable frequency drive technology in a spectrum of industrial and commercial applications. The HVAC, fan and pump control applications are fast growing segments for the technology.
“We look forward to continued success with Eaton as we focus on the next generation of variable speed drive solutions,” said Jim Brandner, senior product manager, Johnson Controls. “The focus of both organizations will remain on technologies that increase energy efficiency and improve the reliability of HVAC systems.”
The VSD Series of adjustable frequency drives will be sold through Johnson Controls and will easily integrate with the Metasys® Building Management System using industry standard communication protocols, such as N2, LonWorks and BACnet. This offers customers a reliable solution for increased energy efficiency and reduced installation time.
