SHANGHAI … To support the humanitarian efforts underway in Yushu County, western China’s Qinghai Province, following the devastating earthquake on April 14, diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has pledged $50,000 to the Humanitarian Relief and Aid Fund of the Shanghai Red Cross. In addition, Eaton will match employees' donations to the Red Cross Society of China and its affiliates.
“Eaton’s contribution to the Red Cross will help support the very important relief efforts that are currently ongoing to assist those affected by this devastating earthquake. It is our hope that these donations will help in easing the pain and suffering resulting from the tragic events in Yushu, and resource long-term recovery efforts to rebuild lives and infrastructure, ” said Joe-Tao Zhou, Eaton president – China.
Since 2005, Eaton employees around the world have helped address urgent global needs by donating more than $420,000 to recent catastrophic events including tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, and typhoons. Along with the company’s donation-matching program and grants, these efforts have contributed approximately $1.3 million to critical relief efforts. Contributions from the Eaton Charitable Fund to charitable organizations worldwide totaled nearly $7 million in 2009.
