Eaton’s Expanded Motor Protection Capabilities Increase Safety, Flexibility Reliability, Uptime and Energy Savings

Date: June 8, 2010

PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation is expanding its Motor Insight® overload and monitoring relay system with added safety features and control flexibility.  Part of Eaton’s Intelligent Power® Control Solutions family, the new Motor Insight CP provides customers with advanced monitoring capabilities, diagnostics, and motor and pump protection in a single device. It is designed for energy management, oil and gas, and water and wastewater industries.

“Today’s overload relays are able to do more than protect the motor,” said Adam Krug, product manager, Eaton. “By allowing customers to see energy consumption at the specific load, Eaton’s Motor Insight system facilitates real-time equipment monitoring, enabling scheduled maintenance and helping to keep motors and pumps running at peak performance. With this product, customers are better able to reduce downtime and protect their business.”

Motor Insight CP’s remote display puts the panel door between the operator and line voltage, while the fully programmable relays provide greater control flexibility. All commissioning, diagnostics, monitoring and control can be performed with Motor Insight CP’s door-mounted display or with Eaton’s HMi. Further, the fully programmable relay allows independent actuation for differing fault types, so customers are able to weigh the importance of fault type.
