Eaton Transmission Lasts More than 2 Million

Date: June 10, 2010

KALAMAZOO, Mich. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that a customer has accumulated more than 2 million miles on an Eaton 13-speed manual transmission.

Jackie Tennant, 62, an owner operator for 35 years, has logged more than 2 million miles of repair-free service on her transmission.  “Amazingly, I’ve never had to tear it apart,” said Tennant. She indicated that by way of comparison, during that same period, she has had her engine overhauled twice, replaced her brakes roughly 15 times and changed her tires about 23 times.

For the past 15 years, she has run a Kenworth W900 tractor with Eaton’s 13-speed RTLO manual transmission. Tennant is leased to Intel Carriers out of DeForest, Wis., and typically hauls refrigerated freight out of the Midwest to Texas and Florida.
