Eaton's AN19 Starter Provides a Cost-effective Retrofit Packaged Solution Requiring No Drilling or Additional Parts

Date: April 28, 2015

PITTSBURGH, PA — Power management company Eaton today announced an easy-to-install and cost-effective retrofit kit to its popular Freedom Series of electro-mechanical starters. Designed for open- and closed-panel applications, wall-mounted starter applications, custom original equipment manufacturer (OEM) control panels and aftermarkets, AN19 Competitive Retrofit Kits include all necessary components to replace competitor starters sized 1-5 with an Eaton Freedom AN19 starter with C440 overload. The existing competitor mounting hole pattern can be used, and no drilling is required for panel mounting.

Eaton’s Freedom Series contactors and starters feature a compact, space-saving design using state-of-the-art technology and the latest in high-strength, impact and temperature-resistant insulating materials. They meet or exceed National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and other international standards and listings.

“The AN19 Competitive Retrofit Kit provides a packaged replacement starter solution,’’ said Tijuandria Smith, NEMA product manager, Eaton. “It provides superior motor protection as well as an option for communications. There is no need to order individual components, and maintenance time is reduced when upgrading bimetallic starters with solid-state technology in existing panel applications.’’

AN19 is the only retrofit kit of its kind on the market. Its competitive mounting plate allows existing hole patterns to be used for easy mounting. In addition to communication capability, the starter’s C440 solid-state overload permits selectable trip class, phase imbalance, and ground fault. All AN19 retrofit kits will feature starters with advanced overload protections.

AN19 retrofit kits are intended for use in commercial construction, industrial, manufacturing, machine building, oil and gas industry, pulp and paper and water/wastewater industries. Each kit includes an AN19 starter with C440 overload, competitive mounting plate, electronic remote reset, reset pushbutton, reset nameplate, and wire.
