Eaton Introduces PowerXL Enclosed Drives for Increased Energy Efficiency and Reliability

Date: June 3, 2015

PITTSBURGH, PA — Power management company Eaton today announced it is introducing PowerXL Enclosed Drives into the North American market. The drives offer advanced harmonics mitigation, energy efficiency and increased reliability to the water/wastewater, irrigation pumping, oil and gas, and industrial infrastructure industries.

“Eaton is committed to providing continuous and innovative solutions that improve customers’ businesses through enhanced energy efficiency and reliability,” said Matt Phillips, product manager, Eaton. “Our new PowerXL enclosed drive offering incorporates the PowerXL DG1 general purpose drive that we launched last year into our new enclosure designs. The combination of the PowerXL DG1 in our new innovative enclosure designs delivers a reliable and easy-to-use product that provides significant energy savings for our customers.”

PowerXL Enclosed Drives offer standard configurations that are pre-engineered to provide a robust solution with reduced lead time, while also providing customers with custom-engineered configurations that are designed to meet specific application needs. Eaton’s PowerXL Enclosed Drives offering includes advanced harmonic mitigation packages that substantially reduce the harmonics in a system and are in compliance with guidelines such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 519.

PowerXL Enclosed Drives provide superior reliability through a robust design that is tested and listed to United Laboratories (UL) 508C standards and a quality manufacturing process that is International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 certified and includes extensive functional and burn-in testing.

Eaton’s extensive product offering gives customers the ability to choose a solution that fits their individual needs. The Standard Enclosed Drive package includes customizable options for the enclosure, user interface, control components and power components. The Passive-Filtered Enclosed Drive design uses an adaptive passive filter that provides a low-impedance path to ground for the harmonic frequencies which reduces the total harmonic distortion to five to nine percent. All designs offer compact designs with small footprints and a robust fully seam welded enclosure.
