Eaton Introduces Flavor Shield™ Beverage Dispensing Products

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the availability of a new line of beverage dispensing hose and tube products designed to ensure flavor integrity and minimize pungent flavor migration and external contamination. The new Flavor Shield™ products feature a mirror-smooth, modified polyethylene terephthalate contact layer bonded to a special polyolefin alloy backing. The new products combine the flexibility and ease of installation of polyolefin with the superior barrier characteristics of polyethylene terephthalate.

“We expect Flavor Shield hose to be the new industry standard in the beverage dispensing market because of the improved mechanical characteristics,” noted Doug Fisher, sales development manager, Beverage Markets for Eaton Corporation. “Through extensive testing, our Flavor Shield hose has already received approvals from major customers and will be a strong addition to our beverage dispensing product portfolio.”

“Proprietary polymer chemistry was developed to significantly improve mechanical characteristics including flexibility, kink resistance and bond strength,” added Brett Schultz, lead engineer, Beverage Products for Eaton Corporation. “The mirror-smooth polyethylene terephthalate contact surface minimizes microbial growth potential, maximizes flushability and offers greatly enhanced hose to fitting interface.” Flavor Shield products also can be thermoformed to increase routing efficiency while minimizing fitting use. These products meet NSF-51 and NSF-61 test qualifications with temperature ratings from -23° C to +65° C (+10° F to +150° F) and are RoHS compliant.

The Flavor Shield hose specifications, pricing and lead times are immediately available through Eaton and its global channel partners.
