Eaton Will Exhibit Cost-Saving Refuse Truck Products, Systems, And Technologies At Waste Expo 2011

Date: May 5, 2011

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.… Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that its Hydraulics Group will display a range of products and engineered solutions that improve the operational efficiency and reliability of refuse trucks and associated waste handling equipment in Booth 3859 at the Waste Expo in the Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, May 10 -12. Included in the Eaton Hydraulics display will be the company’s fuel-saving Hydraulic Launch Assist™ technology, Power-On-Demand™ hydraulic system technology, LifeSense™ hose with real-time condition monitoring, and a range of components including pumps, valves, manifolds, and controls.

“ The Power-On-Demand and Hydraulic Launch Assist systems have the potential to save literally thousands of gallons of fuel per truck each year,” said Eaton Market Segment Director Corey Moore. “Teamed with exciting new developments like the LifeSense self-monitoring hose, and proven Eaton® pumps, valves, and controls these technologies can re-write the waste management industry’s operating cost equations while improving vehicle uptime and reducing maintenance requirements.”

Eaton’s HLA® parallel hybrid system captures and stores energy during braking, resulting in fuel savings and longer brake service life. The HLA system can save 1,000 gallons of fuel per year in refuse applications with 900 stops or more!

Power-On-Demand hydraulic system technology exerts power only when and where it’s required by sensing flow and pressure requirements. The result isa8%-15% fuel savings.

LifeSense hydraulic hose technology detects events occurring within a hose that lead to failure and signals when the hose needs to be replaced. It improves hydraulic system reliability and productivity by utilizing virtually the full service life of each monitored hose.

Eaton pumps, valves, and controls are the basis for efficient, reliable hydraulic systems for refuse trucks and associated waste handling equipment.
