Date: September 13, 2011

CLEVELAND ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation is celebrating the American aerospace industry’s contributions to national security, technological security and the economy during National Aerospace Week, Sept. 11-17. Eaton is a member of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), which sponsors the multi-year “Second to None” education campaign during National Aerospace Week.

The AIA reports that the aerospace and defense industry employs more than 800,000 workers across the U.S. and supports more than 2 million jobs and 30,000 supplier companies in all 50 states. The industry tallied record sales of $214.5 billion in 2010 along with the largest positive trade balance of any manufacturing sector, according to the AIA.

In the U.S., Eaton employs a workforce of approximately 4,000 at aerospace facilities in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Rhode Island and Texas. Eaton’s aerospace products can be found on virtually every military, commercial and business aircraft in operation worldwide.

“We are proud to be part of an industry that plays such a critical leadership role in technology and national defense,” said Brad Morton, president of Eaton’s Aerospace Group. “We also recognize Eaton employees for taking pride in their work and demonstrating a genuine commitment to our customers and the communities in which we serve.”

In addition to their contributions to aerospace, Eaton employees participate year-round in a variety of volunteer and fundraising initiatives that help improve the quality of life in communities where they live and work.

Eaton’s highly skilled workforce is representative of the superior standards of the aerospace industry, which leads the U.S. in global competitiveness, notes the AIA. Eaton and the aerospace industry also offer a multitude of rewarding and well-paying careers for the next generation of job seekers.
