Eaton in Brazil, India and U.S. Win IT Awards for Problem Solving, Innovation

Date: October 3, 2011

CLEVELAND … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation’s IT organization has won four awards for its strategy toward standardization as well as for enabling operational managers and sales force teams the ability to view global data in real-time. For the second consecutive year, Eaton has received InformationWeek India’s Enterprises Driving Growth and Excellence (EDGE) award and has been named to the InformationWeek 500 list in the U.S. for the fourth year in a row. In Brazil, Eaton ranked first in InformationWeek’s electronics category and improved its overall ranking from 38th to 11th. The company also won second place in the Computerworld’s manufacturing industries category. All four awards recognize the most innovative users of information technology for their businesses.

“We are excited to be credited for our ongoing commitment to innovation and globalizing our business,” said Bill Blausey, senior vice president and chief information officer. “The implementation of the ERP and CRM systems is a great example of Eaton’s commitment to providing efficient data monitoring tools for its employees around the world – drawing on that global strength to modernize customer responsiveness. This approach supports Eaton’s IT strategy for standardization and cost reduction.”

For the India and U.S. awards, Eaton was spotlighted for implementing its Dynamic Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Health Metrics and Plant Monitoring system. The program provides real-time visibility into the “ERP data health” of Eaton’s manufacturing facilities. Eaton employees can monitor the data integrity of plant supply chain, inventory, master schedule and production schedule from anywhere in the world via real-time dashboard monitors.

In Brazil, InformationWeek recognized Eaton for deploying a global customer relationship management (CRM) system. Computerworld acknowledged Eaton’s CRM implementation as well as its Enterprise Site Infrastructure Support (SIS) team. The CRM program is used to consolidate the information of its clients in the Americas. Utilizing Oracle’s Seibel CRM technology, the system manages the company’s interactions with customers, clients and business prospects. It organizes and streamlines business processes and highlights sales, marketing and technical support activities - all in one database.  The SIS integration also combines technical support teams and their customer information in a unified database across 500 facilities, grouped into 28 zones of support – spread across four regions of the world.
