Eaton Offers the Perfect Combination of Filter Cartridges for Pre-Filtration and Final Filtration of NFC Apple Juice

BECO PROTECT CS CellStream™ pre-filter cartridge and the new BECO MEMBRAN PS Pure™ membrane filter cartridge offer the perfect combination of pre-filtration and final filtration for clear NFC apple juice.
 

For the filtration of NFC apple juice, pre-filtration using BECO PROTECT CS CellStream pre-filter cartridges effectively protects downstream membranes. The superior retention of membrane-blocking ultrafine particles and colloids occurs with a nominal retention rating
(ß ratio ≥ 5000) of 0.2 µm. For sterile filtration before bottling, the BECO MEMBRAN PS Pure membrane filter cartridge, which can be tested for integrity and has an absolute retention rating of 0.2 µm, can be used as a downstream “police filter” to reduce or remove harmful and spore-forming thermo-acidophilic bacteria (TAB), such as Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris, in fruit juice production.
 

The unique filter material comprising high-quality, mineral-free BECOPAD® cellulose filter sheets of the BECO PROTECT CS CellStream pre-filter cartridge provides outstanding results. In addition to mechanical separation, the filter cartridge features a second separation mechanism: adsorption. The filter material can retain exceptionally high concentrations of very fine particles and colloids, thereby providing maximum protection for downstream membrane filter cartridges. The special wrapping maximizes the filter area and also provides outstanding mechanical and thermal stability. The filter cartridge therefore offers the advantages of sheet filtration and can be used in all standard filter cartridge housings.
 

The filter material of the BECO MEMBRAN PS Pure membrane filter cartridge consists of pleated polyethersulfone and, with an LRV (Log Reduction Value) greater than 7 per cm², provides high microbiological retention. The membrane’s asymmetrical pore size distribution optimizes flow and flow rates and increases service life. With 0.75 square meters per 10-inch element, the filter area is designed to support effective handling of high volume inflows. The fully welded design with additional polypropylene support fleece increases mechanical stability, withstands a differential pressure of 5 bar in and 2 bar against the direction of flow at 20 degrees Celsius, as well as more than 100 steam cycles. Another advantage is the wide chemical compatibility (pH 1 to 14), enabling various detergents to be used in the regeneration cycle.
