CLEVELAND … The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) presented diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation with the 2011 Healthy Ohio-Healthy Worksite Silver award in January. Eaton facilities located in Cuyahoga, Lake, Lucas, Portage and Van Wert Counties were recognized

Eaton received the award at the fourth-annual Health Action Council Kick-Off Conference held in Dublin, Ohio, where the ODH recognized 34 Ohio businesses for their healthy worksite practices.

“By promoting worksite wellness and fitness in our facilities, we hope to in turn promote a safe and enjoyable workplace for our employees,” said Ellen Collier, Eaton vice president, compensation and benefits. “We hold our employees’ well-being in the highest regard, and we are honored to be recognized by the state for our efforts.”

Eaton provides many wellness benefits for its workers. A few examples include:
• Free preventive care, including onsite health screenings
• Healthy food and beverage choices in cafeteria and vending machines
• Educational information and classes on weight management and healthy eating
• Physical activity opportunities available onsite

“Employee health and wellness efforts are extremely important and benefit both the employee and employer,” said Healthy Ohio Business Council Chair Laura Ritzler. “Eaton does a great job at promoting healthy lifestyles and work environments for its employees and they most definitely see a return on their investment as employees show an increase in productivity and job satisfaction because of their efforts.”
