Eaton Will Showcase Its Refuse Truck Platform Expertise and Engineered Solutions At Waste Expo 2012

Date: April 6, 2012

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that it will display a selection of products and engineered solutions in Booth 18075 at Waste Expo 2012 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nev., May 1-3. Included in the Eaton display will be the company’s fuel-saving hydraulic system technology that provides power on demand, LifeSense® hose with real-time condition monitoring, Hydraulic Launch Assist™ hybrid technology and a range of components including pumps, valves, manifolds, and controls.

“The ability to provide power on demand and Hydraulic Launch Assist™ have proven their ability to reduce refuse truck fuel consumption by thousands of gallons per truck annually,” said Eaton Market Segment Director Corey Moore. “Working with Eaton products like LifeSense® self-monitoring hose, and reliable pumps, valves, and controls, these technologies give refuse industry customers an opportunity re-write their operating cost equations by increasing vehicle productivity while reducing maintenance requirements.”

Eaton’s hydraulic system technology designed to deliver power on demand uses efficient, variable displacement piston-type pumps and advanced controls to provide constant flow regardless of engine speed.  This permits trucks to lift loads while the engine is at idle and pack on the move without bypassing flow to the reservoir, neither of which is practical with conventional hydraulic systems.  The result is a 15%+ fuel savings.

Eaton’s Hydraulic Launch Assist™ parallel hybrid system capturers and stores energy during braking which can save 1,000 gallons of fuel per year in refuse applications with 900 stops or more while also extending brake service life.

LifeSense® hydraulic hose technology detects events occurring within a hose that lead to failure and signals when the hose needs to be replaced.  It improves hydraulic system reliability and productivity by utilizing virtually the full service life of the monitored hose.

Eaton pumps, valves, and controls are essential components for efficient, reliable hydraulic systems for refuse trucks and associated waste handling equipment.
