Eaton Wins 2012 Manufacturing Leadership Award for its Innovative PowerSource™ iPad Application

Date: May 29, 2012

CLEVELAND … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that it has won the Manufacturing Executive’s 2012 Manufacturing Leadership 100 (ML100) Award for the Game Changing Technologies category for its ground-breaking PowerSource™ iPad application.

PowerSource provides hydraulics sales reps and distributors with a paperless, digital product catalog housed in an iPad application. The app replaces a 500-page catalog with the lightweight device. Eaton’s PowerSource app works with the iPad® to provide virtually instant access to in-depth and up-to-date information on Eaton’s more than 200,000 hydraulic products anytime, anywhere.

“Innovation is in Eaton’s DNA,” said Justin Kershaw, senior vice president of Information Technology for Eaton’s Industrial Sector. “100 years ago, our founders combined their ingenuity to develop an axle that enabled trucks to endure the rugged roads of the early 20th century. Today, we are using technology to again reinvent our business and the PowerSource app is a perfect example what can happen when experience, innovation and passion collide.

“We are honored to be recognized for PowerSource, which has changed how hydraulics products are sold,” said Kershaw.

The Manufacturing Leadership 100 Awards were created eight years ago as the Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards. They have established themselves as the premier program for honoring transformational business projects, innovation and excellence in a variety of manufacturing categories including operational excellence and sustainability, global value chain, and workforce development excellence.
