Developed specifically for use in photovoltaic (PV) renewable energy systems, inverters in the new ISG range from Eaton’s Electrical Sector are now tested and certified as fully compliant with ENA Engineering Recommendation G83/1, and therefore suitable for connection to the UK national grid. The new inverters combine high reliability and maintenance-free operation with compact construction and sleek modern appearance, making them an ideal choice for use in domestic and small commercial applications.
ISG single-phase inverters are suitable for use with monocrystalline and polycrystalline PV arrays up to 40 m2. Versions for indoor use, which offer IP43 ingress protection, are available with ratings from 1.5 kW to 4.0 kW, and the range also includes a 4.0 kW model with IP65 ingress protection for outdoor use. All models feature a no-fan design that ensures quiet operation, increases reliability and helps to guard against the build up of dirt that inevitably occurs when cooling fans are used.
To ensure best use is made of the energy supplied by the PV panels under all conditions, ISG inverters incorporate Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology, which allows all models to maximise the energy yield from the array. Operation of the units is easy to monitor, thanks to a built-in liquid crystal display that provides detailed real-time status information, and an RS-232 serial data port that facilitates communication with external devices.
Eaton’s new PV inverters have been designed from the outset to deliver long reliable service lives without the need for maintenance and are supplied, as standard, with a five-year warranty.
To complement its new inverters, Eaton’s Electrical Sector offers a comprehensive family of PV balance-of-system products. These include compact dc switch disconnectors for isolating PV panels during maintenance, dc fireman’s switches for emergency isolation of the panels, dc string fuses and circuit breakers to provide dependable protection for the PV installation, and both dc and ac overvoltage protection devices to safeguard the installation against the effects of voltage transients.
