Eaton Recognized as a CIO 100 Award Honoree
Date: June 27, 2012
CLEVELAND … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that the company is being honored with a 2012 CIO 100 Award by CIO magazine. The 25th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). Eaton has won the CIO 100 Award on five previous occasions, most recently in 2011.
This year, CIO magazine recognized Eaton’s powerful and innovative POWEREDGETM mobile app for on-demand access to Eaton’s electrical solutions and expertise as being easy to use and intuitive. Additionally, CIO applauded Eaton’s marketing strategy for the POWEREDGE launch.
“Eaton continues to enhance its abilities to provide customers with leading technologies and is pleased to win the CIO award again this year,” said Bill Blausey, Eaton senior vice president and chief information officer. “Business is no longer confined to the office, and customers and channel partners alike need access to information on the fly. Eaton’s POWEREDGE mobile app helps customers find information and solutions that improve the reliability, efficiency and safety of the systems they manage.”
Leveraging Apple iPhone® and iPad® platforms, Eaton created the POWEREDGE mobile app to engage with customers, provide educational sales tools and enable users to conveniently find product information. POWEREDGE allows users to search through Eaton’s electrical catalogs; select and share product information; watch solutions at work and learn from Eaton experts. Visit poweredge.eaton.com for more information.
Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Tuesday evening, August 21st at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
"For 25 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value," said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief of CIO magazine & events. "Our 2012 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage."
About the CIO 100 Awards
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100. Complete coverage of the 2012 CIO 100 awards will be online at www.cio.com on August 1, 2012 and in the August 1st issue of CIO magazine.
