Eaton’s Beltsville Facility Presents Grants to the USO of Metropolitan Washington and Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C.

Date: July 19, 2012

BELTSVILLE, Md.… Employees of diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation’s aerospace facility in Beltsville, Md., recently presented grants to the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) and Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C., to support community initiatives that benefit military and civilian families. Grant checks were presented by Jeff Swensen, Beltsville plant manager, during an all-employee meeting in June.

“As employees of Eaton, we are committed to improving the communities where we live and work,” Swensen said. “We applaud the positive impact being made by USO-Metro and Habitat for Humanity and appreciate the volunteer opportunities they provide to Eaton employees who want to be more involved in the community.”

Swensen presented a $15,000 grant to Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C., to help fund the construction of affordable homes for low-income families. He also presented a $10,000 grant to USO-Metro to fund renovations of the new USO Center opening at Fort Meade later this summer. The new center will support a variety of programs and services designed to lift the spirits of the more than 500,000 American troops and their families serving in the Washington-Baltimore region.

Grant recipients were selected by the Beltsville facility’s Community Involvement Team and funded by the Eaton Charitable Fund.

“Over the years, Eaton employees have been involved in a number of community-improvement projects sponsored by USO-Metro and Habitat for Humanity,” said Jonathan Murray, lead design engineer at Eaton’s Beltsville facility and leader of the Community Involvement Team. “It’s been very rewarding to support their efforts and to be a part of their many success stories in the community.”
