Volunteers from Ten Eaton Locations to Participate in United Way of Greater Cleveland’s Days of Caring Event
Date: August 8, 2012
CLEVELAND … Employees and retirees of diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation will volunteer at the Cleveland Sight Center camp, Highbrook Lodge on Thursday, Aug. 16, and Friday, Aug. 17, in conjunction with United Way of Greater Cleveland’s Days of Caring. Employees from ten of Eaton’s Greater Cleveland locations will take part in painting, landscaping, cleaning, tree removal and administrative volunteer work.
“We believe that tomorrow’s possibilities rely on today’s efforts,” said Eaton’s United Way campaign chairman, Jack Matejka, senior vice president of Internal Audit. “This belief also holds true for improving the communities where we work and live. Investing in United Way is a way for Eaton to demonstrate its core value of supporting and improving our local communities. Consolidating our donations of time and financial support through United Way allows us to help build a brighter tomorrow for our Greater Cleveland community.”
Highbrook Lodge is a summer camp founded in 1928 by the Cleveland Sight Center. The camp helps children and adults who are blind or have limited vision, improve orientation and mobility skills, increase their ability to live independently and learn while having fun surrounded by natural beauty.
“The Cleveland Sight Center is unique for its comprehensive services for northeast Ohio residents of any age who are blind or have limited vision,” said Steven M. Friedman, Ph.D., president and executive director of the Cleveland Sight Center. “We are delighted to have nearly 400 employees of Eaton Corporation who exemplify United Way’s Days of Caring. The camaraderie and work that they accomplish are a great benefit for both organizations. Eaton Corporation employees go above and beyond to make the spirit of Days of Caring and United Way work for us.”
United Way of Greater Cleveland is a leader in addressing health and human service needs through convening partnerships, funding programs and generating resources to support our community’s priorities. Because of the generosity of some 80,000 donors, United Way will invest $33.4 million to fund health and human services in Greater Cleveland this year.
