Eaton Earns Spot on 2012 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America for Fifth Consecutive Year
Date: September 12, 2012
CLEVELAND … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that the company made this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. This year marks the fifth consecutive year in which Eaton has been named to the list. The 2012 list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference taking place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.
Eaton was recognized for the PowerSource™ application, an innovative mobile application for the Apple® iPad. The app provides a comprehensive toolset that streamlines a user’s ability to search, spec and sell Eaton hydraulics products and services. Utilized by both Eaton’s sales force and its distributor network, the application allows for information to be readily available for an interactive presentation, and to be quickly shared via email. The goal of the application was to reduce cycles in the sales process from days to just hours or even minutes.
“We are grateful to be granted the InformationWeek 500 award for what is now our fifth consecutive year,” said Bill Blausey, Eaton senior vice president and chief information officer. In creating the application, our vision was to change the mentality that a salesperson would need to rely on printed product catalogs and calls to inside support for information to close a deal. Eaton’s PowerSource™ offering is easily unlike any other mobile device application in use by manufacturers today.”
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings, in that they spotlight the power of innovation in information technology, instead of simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
