Guardian Seal Plating Provides Advanced Protection for Walterscheid Tube Fittings
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN… Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton today announced the introduction of a new corrosion-resistant plating technology, Guardian SealTM on carbon steel WalterscheidTM tube fittings, which gives industrial and mobile customers confidence that their fluid conveyance connections will withstand even the toughest of environments.
In recent years, many equipment manufacturers and users have asked for improved corrosion resistance on carbon steel fluid conveyance connections to deliver better equipment performance, reduce replacement costs, and maintain the original appearance of equipment. With the introduction of Guardian Seal plating technology, Walterscheid tube fittings meet the need for higher corrosion protection that is required in today’s most challenging environments.
Eaton’s new Guardian Seal plating technology is now incorporated in all carbon steel Walterscheid products, and proven to prevent red corrosion to a minimum of 720 hours. With this performance, Guardian Seal puts Walterscheid tube fittings performance well above the Society of Automobile Engineers’ corrosion resistance requirements of 96 hours to red corrosion; it also meets more stringent European VDMA, the German Engineering Association’s, 24576-K5 requirements of 720 hours to red corrosion.
Because of its standard zinc-base plating, augmented by micro-impregnation technology, Guardian Seal can deliver this prevention performance. This powerful combination creates an anti-corrosive membrane that provides more complete protection to the base metal compared to other zinc plating options.
Walterscheid tube fittings with Guardian Seal are similar in appearance, interchangeable and compatible with all existing Walterscheid products plated with hex chrome-free zinc plating, which means customers can intermingle inventory—saving space, storage costs and saving the additional effort to segregate. In addition, Walterscheid tube fittings with Guardian Seal feature identical installation and torques requirements compared to Walterscheid hex chrome-free zinc plated products in the same part number.
Compatible with standard hydraulic fluids, Guardian Seal plating is also nickel free, solvent free, and meets global requirements for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV), and Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH).
Guardian Seal specifications, pricing, and lead times are immediately available through Eaton and its global channel partners.
