Eaton Scoops Energy & Environment Award at this year’s Best Factory Awards
Date: 9 October 2013
Power management company Eaton is delighted to announce that its manufacturing plant in Worksop, United Kingdom, has won the Energy & Environment category at this year’s Best Factory Awards. The awards were presented at a ceremony held in London on 27th September, and additionally saw Eaton being Highly Commended for its plant in the highly regarded Best Electronics & Electrical Plant category.
To be considered for a Best Factory Award, Eaton had to meet a rigorous selection criteria through submission of an in-depth self-administered audit questionnaire, designed by researchers at Cranfield School of Management, and a site visit from the judging panel which left no stone unturned in its inspection of the facilities and questioning of the Worksop team. Eaton was subsequently chosen as winner of the Energy & Environment Award due to its continued commitment to reducing waste disposal, scrap rates and energy costs with the judges describing the Worksop plant, Eaton’s global production centre for cam switches and switch disconnectors, as ‘the ultimate environmentally friendly site’.
Commenting on the award, Neil Gill, Plant Manager at Worksop, said: “We are over the moon to have won the Energy & Environment Best Factory Award. This is the first time we have entered, so to win an award and be Highly Commended in the well-respected Best Electronics & Electrical Plant category is great. The on-going investment in equipment at the site, together with the commitment and flexibility of our excellent team, are crucial factors in this success and also make it possible for us to further enhance the plant’s status as a global centre of manufacturing excellence within the Eaton group.”
Products manufactured at the Eaton plant include rotary cam switches with ratings up to 100 A, which can be supplied in an almost limitless range of configurations to suit specific needs, and switch disconnectors, also with ratings up to 100 A, which facilitate the safe isolation of electrical supplies and circuits. The 10,000 m2 plant has almost 200 employees, almost all of whom are directly involved with manufacturing.
