Eaton Recognized for Leadership in Global Innovation; Named to Thomson Reuters Top 100 Innovators List for Third Consecutive Year

CLEVELAND … Power management company Eaton Corporation plc (NYSE:ETN) has been named a Thomson Reuters 2013 Top 100 Global Innovator for its achievements as one of the world’s most innovative companies for a third consecutive year. The award identifies companies worldwide for their outstanding commitment to innovation, the protection of ideas and the commercialization of inventions.

Eaton holds over 10,510 patents globally and generated more than 874 patents in 2012. Through the third quarter of this year, Eaton has produced 689 patents. In 2013, Eaton’s patented products include  an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that works with an available power source (solar, wind, etc.) to support a high efficiency mode, a thermally protected light emitting diode (LED) module,  an integrated clutch supercharger and an auto-tuning electro-hydraulic valve.

This year’s Thomson Reuters 2013 Global Innovators report stated the top 100 companies outperformed the S&P 500 for the third consecutive year by four percent in annual stock price growth and two percent in market cap weighted revenue growth.
