Sharing Our Story

At Eaton, we reinforce our accountability by making sustainability information available to the public. We publish our annual Sustainability Report as part of Eaton's Annual Report to shareholders, which includes information on greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets, progress toward these goals, plans to reduce emissions, and other sustainability information. The company also publishes information on our website at Eaton.com.

We also work with independent sustainability organizations, industry groups and the media to provide specific data to the public. These activities include:
 

• We provide information to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a non-profit organization whose website is the largest public repository of corporate GHG emissions data in the world.

• Eaton works with Ethisphere Institute, Global Reporting Initiative and other organizations that track corporate sustainability data and provide performance ratings for public review.

• Periodic news releases focusing on sustainability performance are issued to the media and posted on Eaton’s web site.

• Public outreach to our various stakeholders, including, customers, suppliers, investors, communities and others inform them of Eaton’s ongoing sustainability activities and achievements

• We were one of only 11 companies in the S&P 500 to be recognized as a top performer on both the CDP’s Disclosure Leadership Index and Carbon Performance Leadership Index.

• We were named one of Corporate Responsibility magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens for the fifth consecutive year, moving from No. 33 to No. 17 overall.

• The Ethisphere Institute named us one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the sixth straight year. Eaton is one of only 24 companies that has earned the honor every year since the list was established in 2007.

• In China, we were recognized as one of the best corporate brands at the 2012 China Finance Summit for our dedicated efforts in sustainability and innovation.

• Eaton is ranked among the world’s top sustainability performers in the Nasdaq OMX CRD Global Sustainability 100 Index.
