Data Verification
Eaton is committed to reporting our emissions and injury/illness performance to the public. We include this type of data in the company’s Sustainability Report – which is published in our Annual Report to Shareholders – and on the Eaton.com/sustainability web site where it is updated quarterly. In addition, Eaton provides the data in a variety of public reports issued by non-government organizations (NGO’s) such as the Carbon Disclosure Project.
Sustainability performance is becoming more and more important to employees, shareholders, regulators, customers and others to allow them to understand the company’s strategy, risks and growth opportunities in building a more sustainable world. The data is also used by the company to identify opportunities for improving sustainability performance.
To ensure the accuracy of our emissions and injury/illness data, Eaton has contracted with Premier Environmental Services, Inc. to conduct an independent verification analysis using ISO 14064-3 standards for the following classifications of emissions:

To ensure the accuracy of our emissions and injury/illness data, Eaton has contracted with Premier Environmental Services, Inc. to conduct an independent verification analysis using ISO 14064-3 standards for the following classifications of emissions:
• Scope 1 – Direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company
• Scope 2 – Indirect emissions from goods or resources with potential GHG emissions (mostly from purchase of electricity)
• Scope 3 – Indirect emissions from other non-owned or controlled emissions, e.g. leased cars, commercial airline travel.
• Scope 2 – Indirect emissions from goods or resources with potential GHG emissions (mostly from purchase of electricity)
• Scope 3 – Indirect emissions from other non-owned or controlled emissions, e.g. leased cars, commercial airline travel.
The verification analyses of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, in addition to injury/illness data, were performed with a “reasonable” level of assurance. Scope 3 analysis was conducted with a “limited” level of assurance.
