Ward's 10 Best Engines
Eaton components contributed to half of the top 10 engines for 2012 chosen by Ward’s Auto World at the prestigious trade publication’s annual ceremony held in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This marks the latest in a string of wins for Eaton, which has been a mainstay among the “10 Best Engines” every year since the inception of the awards in 1994.
It was the third year in a row Audi’s supercharged V-6 made the list. Ward’s raved about the engine’s “stunning power, refinement and efficiency,” and several judges credited the Eaton supercharger for aiding the engine’s blend of performance, efficiency and overall sophistication.
A panel of Ward’s editors selected the “10 Best Engines” based on power, fuel efficiency, packaging, smoothness, NVH, overall performance and technical innovation. A record seven of this year’s winners integrate direct fuel injection and four of the top 10 feature 2.0-liter displacements, reflecting the trend toward more fuel-efficient and boosted downsized engines.
Not only were Eaton components on five of the winning engines, the awards ceremony also provided a great opportunity to display products and meet with current and prospective customers.
On 2012 vehicles, Eaton technologies were used on the following Ward’s honored engines (in the models in which they were tested):
