Variable Force Solenoid (VFS)

Automatic transmissions use VFS to control the actuation of clutches.

• High (or low) flow pressure control

• Insensitive to supply pressure variations

Variable Bleed Solenoid (VBS)

The pressure supplied to a clutch pack in automatic transmissions is controlled by VBS.

• Low flow pressure control
• Proportional / inverse proportional control
• Sensitive to supply pressure variations

Pulse Width Modulated Solenoid (PWM)

PWM solenoids are used for torque convertor control.

• Used as a pilot valve to a secondary spool
