W-VAC Circuit Breakers
The W-VAC family of breakers are technologically advanced equipped with high speed, high energy operating mechanisms and provide higher insulation levels in less space, reducing the overall switchgear size. All types can be applied in single-tier or double-tier switchgear applications with a basic element design for use in retrofitting. Ideal for use in new metal-clad switchgear as well as modernization and life extension of existing switchgear.
- Main contacts are positioned inside the vacuum chamber so they remain clean and require no maintenance at any time.
- Exclusive multi-point contact design results in low electrical and thermal resistance. Utilizing this non-sliding current transfer system between the movable stem and the circuit breaker main conductor produces a highly reliable maintenance free connection that does not even require regular inspection.
- Designed with several built-in interlocks and safety features. Front panels, manual charge socket, open-closed indicator, operation counter, a spring charged/discharged indicator, and manual open/close buttons provide safe and proper operating sequences.
- Utilizes vacuum interrupters for interruption and switching functions, allowing for the advantages of enclosed interrupters, reduced size and weight, short interrupting time, long life, reduced maintenance, and environmental compatibility.
- Arc interruption is simple and fast. Rapid dispersion, cooling, recombination, and deionization of the metal vapor plasma, together with the fast condensation of metal vapor products, cause the vacuum to be quickly restored, allowing opened contacts to withstand the transient recovery voltage.
- A spring-stored energy-operating mechanism includes all of the elements for storing the energy, closing and tripping of the circuit breaker, as well as manual and electrical controls is arranged vertically in front of all type W-VAC circuit breakers for ease of accessibility.
