FIRE-GUARD™ Combination Type Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI)
The FIRE-GUARD Combination Type Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) is a residential circuit breaker with an integrated processor that recognizes the unique current and/or voltage signatures associated with both parallel and low current arcing faults, and acts to interrupt the circuit. This further reduces the likelihood of an electrical fire.
Cutler-Hammer’s Combination Type Fire-Guard AFCI provides the following:
- Mitigates low current and high current arcing faults in common installed wiring (Type NMB)
- Conventional thermal and magnetic overcurrent protection
- Parallel arcing fault detection and fire mitigation for installed wiring and connected cords
- Enhanced detection of persistent low current arcing faults with associated mitigation of fire hazards in the cords connected to the outlets
Eaton's exclusive features include:
- Best in class Combination AFCI Technology, UL1699 certified
- Advanced self diagnostics via test button
- Very low power consumption resulting in reduced distribution panel heating
- Plug-on-Neutral option reducing installation time (CH in 2007, BR available mid 2008)
- Dedicated AFCI application support group
